For the Children

Public libraries, regrettably, are not listed. They should be. For generations, libraries have drawn children and teens, often without parents. Public libraries should be treated the same way the state treats schools and day care centers. [More]

It appears that the editorial is in response to a court decision that the district library governing board does not have the right to regulate the carrying of firearms, which is restricted to the state Legislature to regulate:

My comment probably won't last long:

Adding libraries to the list of defenseless victim free fire zones in which criminal psychopaths who have even less respect for laws than they do for people will be able to kill to their hearts' content until the police show up makes a lot of sense. Ranks right up there with stupid.

My comment to the article was short but sweet.

Gun free zone = target-rich, free-fire zone for badguys.

Reckon that says it all.
